Hello again...

I understand that I have let a couple of you down by not updating this. I know you miss my wit and charm, and are feeling left out of my daily life. Don't worry. My life has been perfectly boring since I last wrote anything here. Although I have made note of a few things that made me shake my head, scratch my head, or even drop my head in shame of the human race.

In keeping with my spirit of not making this my personal bitching place, I will refrain from the lengthy, verbose descriptions of most of them. However, there is one that needs to be shared. If you are going to make a stand for something, please at least practice what you are going to say on the soap box!

I was reading the online news from my local station's website, and I ran across this quote. I am directly quoting this, unaltered in any way. And no, I am not giving credit to the speaker, if I had said something as back asswards as this, I would not want my name mentioned. Ever.

"It's time for we, as African-Americans, to go to the next level and demonstrate that we do have self respect for ourselves,” [he] said. “And, I think if we show self-respect for ourselves, the rest of the world is going to do the same."

Before you get your particulars all wadded up over this, let me break this down a bit for everyone. It is a great idea, respect your self, and others will respect you, awesome. However, I am pretty certain that any English speaking, educated individual would look at this and say, "Wha-?"

Number one, take out the ",as African-Americans," and you are left with 'It's time for we to go.' Great, well, us are going to continue.

If "we do have self respect for ourselves" sounds familiar, then you know that in the dictionary under 'Redundant', it says 'See Redundant'.

Finally, how is the rest of the world going to show self respect for ourselves. Once again, the word you are looking for is US. And they are not going to show self-respect for us, they may show respect for us.

I am better now. Please take this word of advice. Think before you speak. My father told me once to only say one out of every three things that come into my head. It is good advice.
